i love my cicada shells a lot. butt i threw vemm awae . so love you. done bye .

(Houston typed all of that. Now Mama is typing.)

I threw away my cicada shells because they were all getting broken anyway. And i didn't know what to do with them at all.

If found them on trees and fences and our house, but only one time. So i decided that i would just stop collecting them, and we took pictures so i would always remember my cicada shells.

All those cicadas will be dead by now. But they have babies, who are living underground right now eating whatever they find. They’ll stay down there for seven or thirteen years, and pop out in time for you to collect cicada shells when you’re mostly a grown up!

Thanks for the picture of the shells. We had so many of the living cicadas at my friend’s house – (did you ever meet Erika? She is always here at Christmas) that you could hardly hear to talk to each other when you were getting in her car. there were two trees that were COVERED with the noisy beasts.

Glad you like to have things, and know when it is time to toss them. A great skill that is.

Love you darling, Tell the others hi from me and I would hug you all but my arms are not long enough.
